The Hotel
Charm and comfort in the heart of nature

Responsible and Sustainable Tourism
At Lac Hôtel, we are firmly committed to reducing our environmental impact while enhancing our positive social impact, and to supporting the development of the rural economy by promoting local employment and showcasing the agricultural wealth of the village of Sahambavy.
As part of our authentic and sustainable approach, we produce much of what we serve ourselves. This includes dairy products (cheese and yoghurt), honey, homemade bread, jams, and fresh fruit and vegetables grown on our property, particularly in our lemon orchard. This commitment enables us to provide our guests with fresh, healthy, high-quality products. Everything is grown and prepared in harmony with nature, offering you a pure, authentic, and environmentally friendly farm-to-table experience.

A dream born by the lake
It was by pure chance that Leong and Olga discovered the shores of Lake Sahambavy in 1998. Their original plan was simple: to purchase a piece of land by the lake and build a modest cottage where they could enjoy a peaceful retirement. But inspired by Olga’s vision and passion, this quiet retreat soon blossomed into a true Garden of Eden.
Over time, travelers stepping off the train in Sahambavy would pause, intrigued by the beauty of the surroundings, thinking they might find a stopover lodge… This is how the idea was born to open the doors of this corner of paradise and turn it into a hotel.
Fate later brought generations together when their eldest daughter, Maggie Leong, returned from Canada to take over the family venture. The combination of youth and experience made it possible to transform this place into a small green hidden sanctuary.
Day after day, the story of Lac Hôtel continues to be written. In nearly 28 years, the estate has grown to welcome around fifty bungalows today, nestled in the heart of unspoiled nature. And the adventure is far from over… Welcome to Lac Hôtel.

For Madagascar, by Madagascar
Lac Hôtel is fully committed to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and sustainable development. Prioritizing local hiring, we actively contribute to strengthening the resilience and well-being of the local community.
A positive impact on the community
Following the principles of a circular economy, we source as many products as possible from local farmers and producers, helping to stimulate the socio-economic development of the village. We also support selected NGOs by providing suitable facilities and preferential conditions for community initiatives, such as dental care programmes, thereby directly improving regional public health and quality of life.
In the restaurant, just three menus per service: honest cooking designed to prevent food waste, nourished by Sahambavy's short supply chain.
